The Forge

by Ed Robinson

The Hammer strikes; the anvil rings.
Cold Iron conforms itself to hot steel.
A blade forms where the rod dies,
As red glow slowly fades to black.

The desert sun presses the lonely man,
And his flesh melts in the torrid rays.
In death, he gives life to the vultures,
His eternal soul lost to the burning winds.
