Defiance

by Ed Robinson

They stand tall,
Tower walls against the invaders.
Together,
They confront their deadliest foes.

Sentinels,
Fighting to prevent the incursions
Of giants.
Bravely, they defend their labyrinths.

Immortal,
They reign forever, strong and mighty,
Defiant,
Invincible warriors without fear.

Rapidly,
Their kingdom expands beneath the sands.
Cockroaches:
Always they've been; always they will be.
